Natasha Accuses Senate President Akpabio Of Sexual Harassment
Many Nigerians watched in total shock on Friday as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan literally sets recent events surrounding her in the Senate on fire, consuming the Senate President , Godswill Akpabio and anyone else along its path.
Akpoti Uduaghan held no prisoners as she spilled to the whole world the reason behind her recent outburst and that she’s being maligned by Akpabio is because she refused to give in to his ( AKPABIO) sexual advances.
The senator who currently represents Kogi Central opened the oozing can of worms on Arise News talk programme, THE MORNING SHOW on Friday.
Narrating her ordeals and the incidents that led to her being summoned before Senate disciplinary panel after she refused to obey a senate order to change her seat,
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan said Akpabio’s amorous advances towards her started in December 2023 when the Senate President invited her and her husband to a private party for his birthday in his home in Ikot -Ekpene.
Akpoti-Uduaghan said she tried to conceal what had transpired from her husband and that the sexual harassment from Akpabio continued.
She said on one occasion, Akpabio in his office warmed up to her again , telling her she will enjoy him -if she’s willing to make him happy.
According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, Akpabio began to malign and relegate her , even refusing her all of her privileges, including a deliberate attempt by Akpabio to frustrate her motion on alleged corruption in the gas industry, a situation she said she had to endure until the attempt to completely confine her to an obscured corner in the Senate.
To substantiate her allegations, Akpoti-Uduaghan referred to an earlier “Night Club” statement by Akpabio on the floor of the senate , saying it was one of the ways Akpabio had told her they could be sharing a “secret love affair”.
She said since her outburst, Akpabio had made frantic attempts to reach her to apologize-and that he did so through proxy midnight calls from the Senate Leader , Opeyemi Bamidele who pleaded with her that if Akpabio goes down-he too will go down.
She also exposed an alleged conversation she had with Akpabio where he ( Akpabio) said he has the capacity to take down anyone as No. 3 person in the wake of #ENDBADGOVERNANCE protest
The embattled senator has filed a N100 billion suit in damages and another N300 million as legal fees against Akpabio for defamation which she said is not supported by one of the female senators, Ireti Kingibe who also reached out to her to withdraw it.
That was when she dropped then another bombshell that Kingibe has been visiting her home to tell her husband that Akpabio is hitting off on his wife.
Akpoti-Uduaghan has accepted to appear before the Senate disciplinary but on the condition that the investigation is conducted on live television.
In the meantime, the senators has called on Nigeria’s security agencies-the Department of State Service, DSS and the National Security Adviser, NSA to extract the details of the midnight calls from the Senate leader’s phone she hopes to nail Akpabio once and for all.
