Chelsea’s Cole Palmer Sidelined for Three Weeks With Groin Injury

Chelsea have been dealt a blow as star midfielder Cole Palmer has been ruled out for three weeks
with a groin injury, the club confirmed on Friday.
The 23-year-old sustained the knock during training ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash
this weekend. Initial scans showed a strain, forcing manager Enzo Maresca to adjust his
attacking options in Palmer’s absence.

Palmer has been one of Chelsea’s most consistent performers since joining from Manchester
City in 2023, contributing both goals and assists across competitions. His creativity and link-up
play have been pivotal in the Blues’ recent attacking form.
With fixtures against Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Liverpool in the next three weeks, Chelsea
will need to find quick solutions to fill the gap left by the England international.

Speaking to reporters, Maresca admitted Palmer’s absence is “a setback” but remained confident
the squad has depth to cope. “Cole has been outstanding for us. Losing him for this stretch is
difficult, but we trust the players we have to step in and deliver,” the Chelsea boss said.
The injury also means Palmer will miss England’s upcoming October international friendlies.
Manager Gareth Southgate will have to rework his attacking options as the Three Lions continue
their build-up toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Palmer is expected to return after the October international break if his recovery stays on track.
Chelsea fans, however, will be anxious to see how the Blues fare without one of their brightest
attacking sparks during a demanding run of fixtures.
