Cole Palmer Suffers Fractured Toe in Home Accident, Set to Miss Key Chelsea Games
Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer has fractured a toe after a mishap at home and is expected to miss the
club’s next three matches, manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed.
The injury occurred in a domestic accident: Palmer reportedly stubbed his left toe against a door at his
home.
According to Maresca, the injury is a fracture, though he described it as “nothing important” in terms of
serious long-term concern. “He is probably not available … for sure, Barcelona … for sure, Arsenal … for
sure,” Maresca said.
Maresca added they don’t yet know exactly how long he’ll be out: “It’s fractured … the only thing we
know is he is not available for this week and next week.”
Palmer’s absence comes at a difficult time: Chelsea have important upcoming matches against Burnley,
Barcelona (Champions League), and Arsenal. He had been close to a return from a groin injury that had
sidelined him since September.
Without Palmer, Chelsea will need to rely more on other creative and attacking players to fill the void.
Maresca noted: “The team prefer it when Cole is playing … but when he is not, we need to find
solutions.”
Palmer has had a difficult season so far with recurring injury problems. Earlier, he was ruled out for an
additional six weeks with a groin injury. Despite the setback, Chelsea remain hopeful of integrating him
back into the squad once he recovers from this toe injury.
