Tinubu Holds Closed-Door Consultation with Six APC Governors

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday held a closed-door consultation with six governors elected on
the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House, Abuja.
The meeting, which lasted for up to two hours, took place in the President’s office and concluded
without an official statement or disclosure regarding the specific details of the agenda.

The governors present at the high-level meeting were: Umar Namadi (Jigawa State), Monday Okpebholo (Edo State), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti State), Usman Ododo (Kogi State), Aliyu Sokoto (Sokoto State) and Dr. Nasir Idris (Kebbi State)

Though the agenda was not officially revealed by the Presidency or the governors—who declined to
speak to journalists after their departure—the consultations are understood to have occurred amid two
major national contexts:
Rising Security Concerns: The meeting coincided with heightened security challenges across Nigeria,
including continuous reports of banditry, kidnappings, and violent crimes, particularly in the North-West
and North-Central regions, which were heavily represented by the governors in attendance (Jigawa,
Kebbi, Sokoto, and Kogi).
Political Consultations: The session also comes ahead of key internal party engagements, including
scheduled National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings of the APC. Such
gatherings are typically used to strategize on governance, party unity, and future political direction.

The consultation underscores President Tinubu’s sustained focus on coordinating security and
governance efforts with state leaders, particularly those from the ruling party, to address pressing
national issues.
