Canada Raises Residence, Citizenship Fees For Nigerians, Others From April
Canada will increase fees for permanent residence (PR) applications and the right of citizenship fee
effective late March and April 2026.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced the adjustments on March 27, 2026, to
keep pace with inflation and support service delivery.
Key changes; Effective March 31, 2026.
** Right of citizenship fee (adult applicants): increases from $119.75 to $123 (an increase of $3.25).
The adult citizenship grant application processing fee remains unchanged at $530.
Effective April 30, 2026
Permanent residence fees will rise across most categories. Notable increases include:
** Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF): from $575 to $600 (for principal applicants and
accompanying spouses/common-law partners).
** Provincial Nominee Program (principal applicant): from $950 to $990.
** Business class: from $1,810 to $1,895.
** Family class: from $545 to $570.
** Protected persons and Humanitarian & Compassionate grounds: from $635 to $660.
** Dependent child fees in economic streams: from $230/$260 to $260/$270 (depending on
