Tochi Wigwe Marries Wilson Aikhomu in Traditional Ceremony in Lagos
Tochi Wigwe, daughter of late Nigerian banking executive Herbert Wigwe, has married investment professional Wilson Omogbale Aikhomu in a traditional wedding ceremony in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The private ceremony, held on Wednesday, November 4, brought together members of the Wigwe and Aikhomu families, alongside close friends.
The traditional rites included the payment of the bride price, signing of family documents and the formal handing over of the bride to her husband’s family.
Videos and photographs from the celebration circulated on social media on Thursday, drawing congratulatory messages from well-wishers.
Tochi holds a bachelor’s degree from New York University and a master’s degree in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management from Imperial College Business School in London. She previously worked as an analyst at Access Bank and has held positions at Craneburg and Coronation Merchant Bank.
She is also a director of the Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe (HOW) Foundation, established in memory of her late father.
Her husband, Wilson, is a Lagos-based investment professional and the Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Zoya Admiralty. He is the son of the late Rear Admiral Joseph Omozuwa Aikhomu and nephew of former Chief of General Staff, Admiral Augustus Aikhomu.
The wedding comes more than two years after Tochi lost her parents and elder brother in a helicopter crash in California, United States.
Her father, Herbert, his wife, Chizoba, and their son, Chizi, died on February 9, 2024, when a helicopter carrying them crashed near Nipton, California. The incident also claimed the lives of former Nigerian Exchange Group Chairman, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, and two crew members.
Herbert Wigwe was the former Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings and a prominent figure in Nigeria’s banking industry.
