Barcelona Confirm Yamal Out 2-3 Weeks, Will Miss Spain’s World Cup Qualifiers

Barcelona have confirmed that teenage star Lamine Yamal will sit out for two to three weeks
following a recurrence of a groin injury, ruling him out of Spain’s upcoming World Cup
qualifying matches.

The club’s medical update states that the discomfort in the pubic area re-emerged after Yamal
took part in Barcelona’s Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain. Due to this, he
will miss his club’s La Liga fixture against Sevilla and will also be unavailable for Spain’s
qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria.
This setback comes shortly after Yamal had just recovered from the same issue and returned to
full action, having missed four matches earlier in the season.
The news has sparked tensions between Barcelona and the Spanish national team, especially
after remarks from Barcelona coach Hansi Flick critiquing how the national setup handled
Yamal’s previous injury. Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente responded by calling the criticism
“surprising,” and defending the Spain team’s protocols.
With the Champions League and El Clásico fixtures looming, Barcelona will be eager to have
Yamal back for key matches later in the month.
