Madrid Derby Ends In A One All Draw

Real Madrid were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw as they fought it out with Atlético Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday night.

An even first burst into controversy after 34 minutes as Aurelien Tchouameni caught the foot of Samuel Lino as both players missed a cross into the box.

Referee Cesar Soto Grado initially waved play on before being called back to the VAR monitor and awarding a penalty.

Julian Alvarez kept calm and sent goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois the wrong direction to open the scoring.

Real Madrid were relentless in the second half and forced Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak into a host of smart saves.

Eventually, Carlo Ancelotti’s side found an equaliser when Jude Bellingham’s effort was saved into the path of Mbappe to score.
