Nigeria, St. Kitts and Nevis Sign Visa-Free Agreement for Citizens
Nigeria and the Caribbean nation of St. Kitts and Nevis have officially
entered into a visa-free agreement, granting citizens of both countries the right to travel freely
without prior visa requirements.
The deal, signed on Saturday in Abuja by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar,
and his St. Kitts and Nevis counterpart, Dr. Denzil Douglas, marks another step in Nigeria’s
ongoing efforts to expand diplomatic and economic ties across regions.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the agreement is designed to strengthen bilateral
relations, encourage tourism, and open new channels for trade and investment between Africa’s
largest economy and the Caribbean island federation.
Minister Tuggar described the move as “a milestone that will boost cultural exchange, people-
to-people contact, and business opportunities for Nigerians and Kittitians alike.” Dr. Douglas,
on his part, said the pact demonstrates St. Kitts and Nevis’ commitment to deepening its
partnership with African nations.
The visa-free deal is expected to benefit Nigerian travelers exploring opportunities in the
Caribbean as well as investors from St. Kitts and Nevis seeking entry into Africa’s fast-growing
markets.
Diplomatic analysts note that such agreements also strengthen Nigeria’s standing in the global
community, aligning with its push to diversify economic partnerships beyond traditional allies in
Europe and North America.

The agreement takes immediate effect, and both governments have assured citizens that
immigration agencies will issue implementation guidelines in the coming days.
