President Tinubu Appoints Governor Uzodimma as “Renewed Hope Ambassador”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State as the “Renewed
Hope Ambassador”, a role created ahead of the national rollout of the Federal Government’s Ward
Development Programme.

In his new role, Uzodimma will double as Director-General for Party Outreach, Engagement, and
Mobilisation, according to a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information
and Strategy. He is expected to work closely with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and other governors to “evangelise” the Tinubu administration’s reform agenda.

As Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Uzodimma will also help ensure “harmony,
inclusiveness and strategic coordination” across party ranks. Other APC governors are to serve as
“Ambassadors of Hope” under this mobilisation framework.
The appointment comes just before the national launch of the Ward Development Programme, which is
framed as a key part of Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

Analysts suggest the role is part of a broader strategy to strengthen grassroots political mobilization
ahead of the 2027 general elections, especially within the APC.
The presidency is tasking Uzodimma with helping Nigerians understand and appreciate the Tinubu
administration’s achievements since 2023, including economic reforms and social programmes.
In his message to Uzodimma, President Tinubu noted several recent economic milestones:
Inflation has reportedly eased for seven consecutive months, down to 16.05 percent.

Foreign exchange reserves have risen to over $46 billion, compared to $32 billion in early 2023.
The administration claims increased investor confidence, with growing foreign direct investment (FDI)
and portfolio inflows, especially in oil and gas. There has been a push for economic diversification via solid minerals, and more than 700,000 students have benefited from a liberalized educational loan scheme.

Passport processing has reportedly improved, with travel documents now obtainable within a week.
The appointment underscores Tinubu’s commitment to political outreach, aligning party structures and
state governors with the federal government’s developmental agenda.
By naming a high-profile sitting governor, the administration is putting mobilization efforts at the heart
of its political strategy.
The choice of Uzodimma, already influential as chair of the Progressive Governors’ Forum — suggests
that Tinubu is leveraging strong intra-party alliances to reinforce his policy narrative.
Uzodimma will immediately begin coordinating with APC governors and national party leadership.

He is expected to play a central role in public communication and community engagement ahead of the
Ward Development Programme’s launch.
The success of this appointment may be measured by how effectively the “Renewed Hope” message is
disseminated nationwide and by its impact on APC’s grassroots strength going into 2027.
