Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle Hands NFF Conditions for Contract Extension

Eric Chelle, head coach of the Nigeria national football team (Super Eagles), has reportedly submitted a
19-point list of conditions to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as part of negotiations over a contract
extension, according to multiple Nigerian sports news reports.

Chelle, a Franco-Malian coach who led Nigeria to third place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, is
understood to have formally presented his proposals on January 22, 2026 while discussions on his future were ongoing amid interest from European clubs.
At the centre of Chelle’s conditions is a request for an increased monthly salary of $130,000, a package
that would also cover his technical staff and personal assistant.
He also outlined logistical and operational requirements aimed at improving working conditions and
strengthening national team programmes.

Among the 19 conditions reportedly submitted to the NFF are:
* Provision of a private SUV with chauffeur and security.
* Housing in a secure environment with 24-hour uninterrupted electricity.
* A furnished office equipped with a projector and reliable internet for tactical analysis.
* Flight tickets for his wife and two children for official travel.
* GPS and training equipment as required by Chelle.
* Technical autonomy over international friendly appointments and camping programmes.
* Youth development initiatives and structured scouting trips both abroad and within Nigeria.
* No interference in team selection and player call-ups.
* Formal contracts for his backroom staff and guaranteed monthly salary and allowances.
* Regular coordination meetings with all national team coaches.

Chelle’s current contract, signed in January 2025 with an optional extra year at the federation’s
discretion, still has time remaining, but negotiations for fresh terms have gained attention, especially as
the coach has been linked with managerial opportunities in Europe.
So far, the NFF has not officially commented on whether it will accept or reject the conditions, and talks
are understood to be ongoing as the federation weighs financial and strategic considerations ahead of
upcoming fixtures.
