38 CAC Worshippers Rescued in Kwara State After Abduction — Governor Confirms

Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has confirmed that the 38 worshippers kidnapped
from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku community have been rescued after several days in
captivity.
The 38 church members were abducted during a service at the CAC Oke-Isegun, Eruku, in Ekiti Local
Government Area, Kwara State.

According to community sources, the kidnappers initially demanded ₦100 million per victim, though
that ransom was later reportedly lowered to ₦20 million each.
The abductees were freed on Sunday, November 23, following what the governor described as “days of
hard work” by security agencies and government officials.
In a statement, Governor AbdulRazaq credited President Bola Tinubu’s “hands-on” leadership for the
successful operation, noting that Tinubu recalled his planned trip to the G20 summit to focus on the
crisis.

The rescued worshippers have been brought to the State House Clinic in Ilorin, where they are receiving
medical treatment.
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to security agencies, including the DSS, Nigerian Army,
Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and the Nigeria Police, for deploying tactical teams in Kwara.
On Sunday, CAC Oke-Isegun held its first service since the attack in a solemn atmosphere. The church
secretary, Michael Agbabiaka, clarified that 38 people were taken — including three non-church
members who were verified later.

The presiding pastor, Bamidele Lawrence, likened the ordeal to biblical trials and called it a test of faith,
reassuring the congregation of eventual safety and justice.
The successful rescue has been hailed as a victory for coordinated security operations in Kwara State.
Authorities have not publicly detailed how the abduction was resolved — whether through a paid
ransom, a tactical operation, or negotiations.
The governor’s office has thanked religious leaders, local community members, and security agencies for their support and cooperation during the crisis.
