BUA Founder Abdul Samad Rabiu Pledges Cash Incentives to Super Eagles

Nigerian billionaire and Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has announced a series of financial
incentives for the Super Eagles following their impressive 2–0 victory over Algeria in the quarter-finals of
the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Rabiu took to his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, January 10, 2026, shortly after
Nigeria’s quarter-final success,. to congratulate the national team and lay out a substantial reward
package meant to motivate the squad in the closing stages of the continental tournament.
“Congratulations to our Super Eagles players on a brilliant victory against Algeria! You have lifted the
spirit of the nation, and we proudly cheer you on as you prepare for the semi-finals,” Rabiu wrote in the
social media post that accompanied the announcement of the incentives.

Under the pledge:
* Rabiu promised USD $500,000 to the Super Eagles if they win their AFCON semi-final.
* He also committed USD $50,000 for every goal scored by Nigeria in that semi-final match.
* Should the Super Eagles win the AFCON final, Rabiu pledged to give the team USD $1,000,000.
* Additionally, for each goal scored in the final, he promised a further USD $100,000.

The pledges represent a total incentive package of more than $1.5 million plus potential goal bonuses
should Nigeria lift the AFCON trophy,.a motivational gesture widely covered by Nigerian sports media.
The Super Eagles booked their semi-final berth by defeating Algeria at the Grand Stade de Marrakech on
Saturday, with goals from Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams sealing the 2–0 win. Nigeria’s next challenge
will be against hosts Morocco in the AFCON semi-final, scheduled for Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at
the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

Rabiu’s support adds to a growing list of patriotic pledges and bonuses from Nigerian business leaders
and state governments who have publicly backed the team throughout the tournament, emphasising
national pride and unity as the Eagles pursue continental glory.
The generous incentives also reflect the high expectations of fans nationwide, who have rallied behind
the team as one of the tournament’s contenders and a source of national pride.
