Shettima Assures Justice Over Death Of Niger Miners 

Vice President Kashim Shettima is calling for national cohesion and a collective response to the death of 37 miners in Niger State, urging Nigerians to focus on measures that can prevent similar tragedies rather than politicising the incident.

Shettima made the call during a condolence visit to the state, where he expressed sympathy with the bereaved families and the government and people of Niger State. He stressed the need for Nigerians to come together, show empathy, and support those affected by the tragedy

The Vice-President also announced federal government support of N250 million to the bereaved families of the 37 suspected illegal artisanal miners who died while in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) custody in Niger State.

Meanwhile, the Niger State Government has confirmed that 38 people died in the NSCDC incident, disclosing that one more person was killed by gunshot during the ensuing riots.
