Your achievements yielded political gain for APC – Tinubu Commends Wike on FCT polls
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),
Nyesom Wike, for his role in the outcome of the recent area council elections in Abuja, stating that his
performance in office translated into political gains for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President
praised Wike’s remarkable achievements in the FCT, noting that they had yielded political dividends for
the APC in the polls.
Tinubu also congratulated candidates of the APC who emerged victorious across the six area councils, as well as winners of concurrent by-elections in Kano and Rivers states. He described the mandate given to the elected officials as a sacred trust that must be upheld through responsible and people-focused
governance. The President further lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and voters for what he described as the peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections, emphasizing that the process reflects the country’s growing democratic maturity.
He urged the newly elected officials to serve with humility, patriotism, and dedication, while also
encouraging electoral authorities to continue improving the credibility and efficiency of future elections.
The FCT council polls saw the APC secure victories in several area councils, a development party leaders
have attributed to both political organization and governance efforts within the territory.
