We Will Win Over Banditry, Terrorism — Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his administration will decisively defeat
banditry and terrorism in the country.

The President made the declaration on Saturday, April 4, 2026, while commissioning the Gateway
International Cargo Airport and other infrastructure projects in Ogun State.
“We will win over banditry and terrorism. I give you the assurance that we will invest more in our
people,” Tinubu said. He added that Nigeria is resolved to be great and is firmly on the path to greatness
despite current security and economic challenges.
The President’s assurance came amid recent violent attacks in parts of Plateau and Kaduna states,
including the killing of residents in Jos and the abduction of wedding guests in Kagarko Local
Government Area.

He had earlier condemned those attacks as “barbaric and cowardly” and directed security agencies to
intensify operations to bring the perpetrators to justice.
During the Ogun State event, Tinubu also emphasised the importance of continued investment in
infrastructure, human capital development, and economic diversification to support long-term national
progress.

He noted that his administration remains committed to strengthening the capacity of security forces and
forging international partnerships to tackle insecurity more effectively.
The remarks align with previous assurances by the President that the fight against terrorism and
banditry will be total and that the threats are “unacceptable” and foreign to Nigerian culture and values.
