Man City Set New Record With Fourth Successive FA Cup Final Spot
Manchester City have set a new record by reaching the FA Cup final for the fourth successive season
after a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Southampton in the semi-final at Wembley Stadium on
Saturday, April 25, 2026.
Jeremy Doku equalised in the 82nd minute and Nico Gonzalez scored a stunning long-range winner in
the 87th minute to overturn Finn Azaz’s 79th-minute opener for the Championship side.
The win books Pep Guardiola’s team a place in the 2026 FA Cup final on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with
kick-off at 15:00 UK time.
They will face the winner of the other semi-final between Chelsea and Leeds United.
Manchester City thus become the first English club in history to appear in four consecutive FA Cup finals.
The club had already reached the final in the three previous seasons and earlier in the 2025/26
campaign secured the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 win over Arsenal in March 2026.
The semi-final victory keeps alive City’s hopes of a domestic treble this season, as they currently sit at
the top of the Premier League table. Southampton, who had knocked out Arsenal in the quarter-finals,
mounted a strong challenge but were unable to hold on against the late City resurgence.
Pep Guardiola’s side have now reached the FA Cup semi-finals for a record eighth consecutive season.
The achievement was widely celebrated as historic by the club and football media immediately after the
match.
