Nyesom Wike Dismisses Amaechi’s Political Value in Rivers State

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has launched an attack on former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, saying his candidacy as presidential running mate to Atiku Abubakar on the platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC) is of no benefit to the people of Rivers State or the wider South-south region.

Speaking yesterday during his monthly media chat in Abuja, Wike, the former Rivers State governor, dismissed Amaechi as a politician without electoral value.

Reacting to Wike’s comment, the ADC Chairman in Rivers State, Dr. Chukwudi Dimkpa, said the FCT Minister’s attack on Amaechi revealed fear of a growing opposition in the country.

Meanwhile, Rotimi Amaechi has called on opposition political parties to unite to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.

Amaechi, who spoke on Tuesday when he received a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, stated that unity of the opposition is the only means by which the Tinubu administration could be voted out of office in the interest of the country and its citizens.
