Tope Alabi Gives Pastor Tayo Kumuyi 24 Hours to Retract Claims Over Toluwanisings’ Death
Gospel singer Tope Alabi has given Canada-based Pastor Tayo Kumuyi 24 hours to retract allegations linking her to the death of fellow gospel singer Toluwanisings or face legal action.
Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, died in the early hours of October 14, 2026, at the age of 41.
In a cease-and-desist letter dated October 24, 2026, Alabi’s lawyers, Oakmount Legal Practitioners, demanded that Kumuyi delete the posts, issue a public apology, and pin it to his Facebook page for 14 days.
The letter, signed by Toluwanimi Okunade, warned that failure to comply would lead to legal action and complaints to Meta Platforms and relevant law enforcement agencies.
According to the letter, Kumuyi published several posts between October 20 and 24 accusing Alabi of murder and ritual killing and linking her to the deaths of Toluwanisings and other gospel ministers.
The lawyers described the allegations as false and unsupported by evidence. They maintained that Alabi had mourned Toluwanisings publicly and privately and had no involvement in his death.
They also argued that describing the allegations as spiritual messages would not shield Kumuyi from potential legal liability. His residence in Canada, they added, would not prevent legal proceedings over posts that reached Nigerian audiences.
The legal letter referenced another post on the Pastor Tayo Ministries Facebook page containing a message directed at the singer.
The message read: “Tope Alabi, no letter will save you from my hand.”
Alabi’s lawyers said they intended to use the post as evidence in any legal proceedings.
They warned that failure to meet the demands within 24 hours would prompt the singer to seek a court injunction, damages, and legal costs. They also threatened to report the matter to Meta Platforms and law enforcement agencies.
Alabi shared the legal letter on Instagram on October 24 and tagged the Nigerian Police Force.
At the time of filing, no public response had been identified from Kumuyi or the Pastor Tayo Ministries Facebook page. It was also unclear whether a lawsuit had been filed.
Alabi previously described his death as a “big shock”.
The allegations against Alabi remain unproven, and no official cause of Toluwanisings’ death had been announced in the information available for this report.
