Ex-Super Eagles Star Anichebe in Advanced Talks to Buy League One Side Bromley
Former Super Eagles and Premier League striker Victor Anichebe is in advanced talks to lead a takeover of English League One club Bromley FC as part of a wealthy African investment consortium.
According to reports from talkSPORT and other outlets, the 38-year-old is heading negotiations with Bromley’s current owner, Robin Stanton-Gleaves, with both sides working towards an agreement.
The proposed deal would mark Anichebe’s first major move into football club ownership.
Bromley, based in South London, have experienced a rapid rise through the English football pyramid, securing promotion from the National League to League Two in 2024 and then to League One at the end of last season.
However, the club is struggling in its debut League One campaign, sitting near the bottom of the table with just nine points from 13 matches and the division’s worst goal difference of minus 20.
Manager Andy Woodman was sacked in late October after five-and-a-half years in charge.
Anichebe, who founded and owns the Lumira Group, an investment company with interests in sports, education, healthcare and infrastructure across the United Kingdom, has been linked to football ownership before.
He was previously involved in a proposed takeover of non-league side Gateshead that did not materialise.
He was also recently connected to a £20 million leisure development project in Liverpool.
During his playing career, Anichebe featured for Everton, West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland in the Premier League between 2006 and 2017, scoring 27 goals. He earned 11 caps for Nigeria.
The discussions are understood to be progressing, though neither Anichebe nor the club has issued an official public confirmation of the talks.
