King Charles Briefly Hospitalized Due To ‘Side Effects’ Of Cancer Treatment

King Charles III was briefly hospitalized amid his ongoing cancer treatment but has since resumed duties.

According to reports, the British monarch had to be checked due to side effects of his treatment.

Diagnosed in February 2024, he remains optimistic, with Queen Camilla as a key support. King Charles plans to proceed with an April state visit to Italy despite his health struggles.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that Charles was taken to a hospital due to temporary side effects from his ongoing cancer treatment.

A spokesperson stated: “Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital,”

They added that as a precaution on medical advice, “His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.”

“His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,” the statement continued, per Page Six.

Since his cancer diagnosis last year, his schedule has been carefully planned in coordination with his doctors to ensure his health remains the top priority.

When Charles returned to Clarence House following his short stay at the hospital, it was confirmed that the King was in good shape, with a spokesperson sharing that he intends to continue his duty as soon as possible.

“His majesty was due to receive credentials from the ambassadors of three different nations this afternoon,” the spokesperson said, per The Guardian. “Tomorrow he was due to undertake four public engagements in Birmingham, and is greatly disappointed to be missing them on this occasion.”

“He very much hopes that they can [be] rescheduled in due course and offers his deepest apologies to all those who had worked so hard to make the planned visit possible,” they added.

According to the publication, sources told PA Media that the King’s hospital visit was not a significant development, and no further updates on his health were expected.

Charles’ cancer diagnosis was first revealed in February 2024 following treatment for a benign enlarged prostate.

At the time, Buckingham Palace confirmed that “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” though they have not disclosed specific details.

The King expressed gratitude to his medical team and remained optimistic about his treatment. In October 2024, Charles reportedly paused treatment briefly for an 11-day royal visit to Australia.

Despite his recent hospitalization, his planned state visit to Italy in April is still expected to proceed.

According to The Sun, during a recent visit to Northern Ireland, Charles III shared words of encouragement with cancer patients, advising them to “keep b-ggering on,” referencing Winston Churchill’s famous phrase.

While touring the Pharmacy and Pharmacology department at Ulster University’s Coleraine campus, he acknowledged the challenges of treatment, saying, “You just have to push on, don’t you?”

Fascinated by the research on microbubbles, he observed experiments and even mimicked the shaking motion.
