Tinubu: Insecurity Will Not Derail Efforts To Support Vulnerable Nigerians
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable
Nigerians, stating that insecurity will not be allowed to overshadow ongoing social intervention efforts.
The president made this known in a State House press release issued on March 20, 2026, where he
emphasised that despite security challenges, the government remains focused on delivering relief and
economic support to disadvantaged groups.
Tinubu acknowledged the country’s ongoing struggles with insecurity and economic hardship but
stressed that these challenges would not derail efforts aimed at improving the welfare of citizens,
particularly the poor and vulnerable.
He noted that social investment programmes under his administration are designed to cushion the
effects of economic reforms and ensure inclusive growth, especially for low-income households.
The president also called for unity and collective responsibility in addressing national challenges,
maintaining that security is not solely the responsibility of government but requires cooperation from all
stakeholders.
His remarks come amid renewed security concerns following recent attacks in parts of the country,
including incidents in the North-East, which have prompted the federal government to intensify military
operations and humanitarian response efforts.
Tinubu reiterated that while security remains a top priority, his administration will continue to balance
military operations with policies aimed at economic recovery and social protection.
The statement underscores the government’s position that national development must proceed
alongside efforts to tackle insecurity, with a dual focus on stabilising the country and supporting
vulnerable populations.
