Tinubu Highlights Progress on 100,000 Homes Promise, Says “We Are Delivering”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has highlighted measurable progress on his administration’s ambitious
pledge to deliver 100,000 affordable homes nationwide, stating that the Renewed Hope Housing
Programme is on track with thousands of units already under construction across the country.
The President made the remarks on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, while reviewing the achievements of his
administration’s housing initiatives.

President Tinubu recalled that his government promised a national-scale housing programme of 100,000
homes, with 50,000 units in the first phase.
These are to be delivered through city-scale developments of at least 1,000 units in every geopolitical
zone and the Federal Capital Territory.
He noted that significant progress has already been recorded, including over 3,000 housing units
currently under construction at Karsana in Abuja, a 2,000-unit housing estate in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State,
which has reached an advanced stage with sales already ongoing and thousands of additional units at
various stages of construction in other parts of the country.

The President described these developments as clear evidence that “we are delivering” on the Renewed
Hope Agenda’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit and providing shelter for citizens.
To support the housing drive, the administration has implemented several reforms, including:
* World Bank-backed land titling and documentation programmes to reduce barriers to home
ownership.
* Uniform pricing mechanisms to eliminate bribery and corruption in land allocation.
* Low-interest mortgage facilities through the Family Homes Fund, with over ₦128 billion already
disbursed to support 1,859 families.
* Plans to deliver up to 500,000 units for low-income earners, including widows and vulnerable groups.
These efforts are part of a broader strategy to create jobs in the construction sector while tackling the
national housing deficit is estimated at over 20 million units.
The update on the housing programme comes as the Tinubu administration marks key milestones in its third year.

The President used the occasion to reaffirm his commitment to inclusive growth, infrastructure
development, and improving the living standards of Nigerians through tangible, people-centred projects.
Construction and delivery of the homes are ongoing.
