Barcelona Come From Behind To Beat Athletico Madrid 4-2

With about 20 minutes remaining in normal time at the Metropolitano, Barcelona completed a famous comeback for the ages to put Atletico’s title hopes in disarray.

The first half was a cagey affair as the teams played largely risk-averse, but combative football. Alvarez’s opener at the tail-end of the first half promised much for the hosts.

When Sorloth finished off a pass from Gallagher in the 70th minute, it looked like Barcelona were done and dusted, and Atletico were about to move to second spot in the LaLiga table.

But Lewandowski managed to put a dent in that with a fortunate goal to pull one back, before Torres, who came off the bench, struck again just six minutes after to level the scores.

The match was placed for an exciting finish, and it certainly proved that way as Yamal’s long-range strike ended up past Oblak. Torres then scored again in the dying minutes of extra time to add the proverbial cherry on top.
