D’banj Shares Emotional Tribute to Late Son, Says Family Has Found Safe Space to Heal

Nigerian singer D’banj has paid an emotional tribute to his late son, Daniel D3rd, expressing how much he misses him and revealing that his family has found a safe space to heal from their loss.

The music star shared the message on his X account on Thursday, October 29, 2026, alongside photographs capturing moments with his son, who died in 2018 at just 13 months old.

Fondly describing Daniel as the family’s “star boy”, D’banj said he believes his late son would be proud of how far the family has come. He also acknowledged the pain his wife, Lineo Didi Kilgrow, must have experienced following their loss.

“I miss you Daniel D3rd my son and trust me, I can’t imagine how your mother feels but we are in a Safe Space now,” he wrote.

The singer also mentioned his late uncle, Femi, asking Daniel to send him his greetings before reaffirming his love for his son.

Daniel died in June 2018 after reportedly drowning in a swimming pool at the family’s residence in Ikoyi, Lagos. His death was a devastating loss for the singer and his wife, who had welcomed him in May 2017, a year after their wedding in June 2016.

The couple have since welcomed two more children, a son and a daughter.

D’banj has previously spoken about how his faith helped him cope with the loss. His latest tribute offers another glimpse into the family’s journey through grief and their efforts to find peace while keeping Daniel’s memory alive.
