Man City Defeat Arsenal To Blow EPL Title Race Wide Open

Manchester City kept their Premier League title hopes alive with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Arsenal
at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Erling Haaland scored the decisive goal in the 65th minute to secure the win for Pep Guardiola’s side
after a thrilling contest.
Rayan Cherki had given City the lead with a brilliant solo effort in the 16th minute, only for Kai Havertz
to equalise for Arsenal just two minutes later.
The result means Arsenal remain top of the table with 70 points from 33 games, while Manchester City
move to 67 points from 32 matches, now just three points behind with a game in hand.
This was Arsenal’s second successive league defeat, following their shock loss to Bournemouth the
previous weekend.
For Manchester City, the victory maintains their challenge for a seventh Premier League title in nine
seasons and sets up a tense final stretch of the campaign.
The match lived up to its billing as a potential title decider, with both teams showing high intensity and
quality.
Arsenal pushed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Havertz headed over a glorious
opportunity in stoppage time.
Mikel Arteta’s side will now need to regroup quickly as they aim to secure their first league title since 2004.

Guardiola, on the other hand, will be encouraged by his team’s resilience in a match many viewed
as crucial. The title race is now firmly back in the balance with eight games remaining for Arsenal and seven for Manchester City.
