Buhari’s Son Declares House Of Representatives Bid On Apc Platform
Yusuf Buhari, son of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has formally declared his intention
to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections on the platform of
the All Progressives Congress.
The declaration targets the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in Katsina State.
Yusuf Buhari made his intention known in a letter dated April 3, 2026, addressed to stakeholders, in
which he stated that the move followed wide consultations.
The letter read in part: “With all respect, I am extremely delighted to write and inform you of my
intention to contest for the seat of House of Representatives at the above-mentioned constituency
(Sandamu/Daura/Mai’adua), under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Yusuf Buhari paid a courtesy visit to Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru
Radda at the Government House in Katsina to seek support for his ambition.
Yusuf Buhari is the only male child of the late President Muhammadu Buhari. His declaration has
generated discussions within the APC in Katsina State, with some stakeholders expressing support while
others have raised concerns about potential imposition or power shifts.
