APC Projects Tinubu Will Secure Over One Million Votes in Plateau

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has forecast that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure more
than one million votes in Plateau State during the 2027 general election, attributing the projection to
increased party strength, unity, and broadening support across the state.
The projection was made on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, by Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, National
Chairman of the APC, during a stakeholders’ meeting for the Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam (PKK) Federal
Constituency held at the MNS Resort Hotel in Pankshin.

Yilwatda said the APC has consolidated its influence in the state since the 2023 elections, with formerly
resistant political forces now aligning with the party.
Yilwatda described the APC’s position in Plateau as significantly strengthened, citing defections and
collaborations with prominent political figures, including Governor Caleb Mutfwang, commissioners,
local government chairmen, and other political appointees.
“All the stumbling blocks we had in 2023 are no longer there. Those who opposed us then have joined
us now,” he said.

Plateau’s PKK area was singled out by the APC national chairman as a traditional stronghold for the
party, with Yilwatda noting that Tinubu secured some of his highest vote totals from the constituency in
the 2023 presidential election.
He recalled that out of the three local government areas in PKK, the APC won two for the presidency, in
addition to Senate, House of Representatives, and most House of Assembly seats.
“Come 2027, I can assure you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will pull some of his highest votes here,
both in numbers and percentage,” Yilwatda declared. “Politics is a game of numbers, and our target is
over one million votes.”

He added that party unity and cooperation between state and federal leaders signal a strengthened APC
capable of delivering on its electoral goals.
Officials present at the meeting echoed the chairman’s optimism, affirming the APC’s growing appeal
and organisational cohesion in the state. Yilwatda also pointed to internal reforms under his leadership,
including digital membership registration and the expansion of the party’s electoral dominance
nationwide.

He highlighted that the APC controls a majority of seats in the National Assembly and holds 29
governorships across Nigeria.
The projection comes amid broader efforts by the APC to signal nationwide unity and momentum ahead
of the 2027 presidential election cycle.
Leaders from various states have publicly endorsed Tinubu’s re-election bid, with APC stakeholders in
states such as Bayelsa also committing to deliver strong support to the president.

Plateau Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who recently defected to the APC from the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), has similarly voiced confidence in delivering significant votes for Tinubu, describing the
political realignment as a new era of unity in the state.
The APC’s projection of substantial support in Plateau underscores the party’s strategic effort to expand
its influence in key states while presenting a consolidated front ahead of Nigeria’s next general elections
in 2027.
