Conte Set To Leave Napoli At End Of Season

Antonio Conte will depart Napoli at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing his tenure as head coach of
the Italian club to a close.
The news was widely reported and confirmed on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, by multiple credible Italian
football sources.

According to reports, Conte has informed Napoli’s hierarchy of his decision not to extend his contract,
which expires in June 2026. Both parties are now working toward an amicable separation.
Conte joined Napoli in the summer of 2024 on a two-year deal and immediately delivered success,
guiding the club to the Serie A title in his first season (2024/25).
However, the 2025/26 campaign has been more difficult, with Napoli failing to defend their title
effectively and facing inconsistency in both domestic and European competitions.

The 56-year-old Italian coach is understood to be seeking a new project after achieving his primary
objective of winning the Scudetto.
Sources close to Conte suggest he feels he has taken the team as far as possible under the current
circumstances and is ready for a new challenge.
Key Achievements at Napoli:
** Won the Serie A title in 2024/25, ending a long wait since their last championship.
** Restored discipline, tactical organisation, and a winning mentality to the squad.
** Delivered strong performances in key matches despite squad limitations.

Napoli are already preparing for life after Conte. Several high-profile names have been linked with the
vacancy, including Roberto De Zerbi, Thiago Motta, and Vincenzo Italiano.
The club is expected to make an official announcement regarding Conte’s departure and the search for
his successor in the coming weeks.
This marks the end of a relatively short but impactful chapter for Antonio Conte at Napoli. His departure
will be a significant moment for Italian football as one of the country’s most successful modern coaches
moves on from the defending champions.
