Atiku’s Son Says Support for Tinubu Is Personal, Donates 10 Buses

Abba Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has described his support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid as a personal decision based on conviction, while pledging 10 buses to aid mobilisation efforts.

Abba made the remarks on Friday during a visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat in Abuja, where he led members of his support group, the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO).

He was received by the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Bukar Dalori.

Addressing journalists, Abba stated that political conviction is a matter of personal judgement and conscience.

“I recognise that political decisions, particularly those that differ from the positions of individuals with whom one shares personal or family relationships, often attract considerable public attention,” he said.

“However, I wish to make one fundamental point: political conviction is a matter of personal judgement, conscience and the freedom of every individual to make independent choices.”

“My decision to establish and lead the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation is a deliberate political choice, one I have made in my personal capacity and with a firm belief in the direction we have chosen to pursue.”

“I hold no reservations about the right of others to their differing political opinions, just as I expect my own convictions to be respected.”

As a demonstration of commitment, Abba announced the donation of 10 buses to support activities aimed at mobilising support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in 2027.

The buses form part of a transportation support initiative that will begin in the Federal Capital Territory before expanding nationwide.

The HBTO, which Abba founded and chairs, plans further mobilisation activities, including a two-million-man march across the six geopolitical zones.

He cited aspects of the current administration’s policies, such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and infrastructure investments, as factors informing his support.

The development places Abba on the opposite side of the political contest from his father, who is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the 2027 elections. Abba had earlier defected to the APC.
