Iran’s Supreme Leader Warns of Unrestricted Response to Any Fresh US or Israeli Strikes
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has issued a stark warning to the United States and Israel against launching any new military attacks, declaring that Tehran’s response would be immediate, impactful and without geographical limits.
In a statement released on Saturday following a meeting with top military commanders, Khamenei said any threat must be met with a decisive reply.
“Any level or type of threat must be met with an immediate, impactful and geographically unrestricted response,” the statement quoted him as telling the commanders, according to reports from Iranian official channels and international media.
He further ordered the armed forces to update Iran’s target list to include “all types of tangible and intangible assets belonging to the American-Zionist enemy.”
The statement added that if enemies again launched military or terrorist attacks, “it is the armed forces of the Islamic Republic and the Iranian nation that will determine the time and conditions for ending them.”
The warning comes amid heightened tensions after US President Donald Trump indicated he was weighing further action against Iran following the American midterm elections, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke of a historic opportunity regarding Iran.
Iranian army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia separately cautioned that any renewed US “adventurism” under pressure from Israel would cause the “flames of war” to engulf a much wider geographical area.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated there were no plans for direct talks with the United States, though indirect mediation efforts via Qatar continued.
Diplomatic contacts involving Qatari intermediaries were reported in Tehran and Doha in recent days as both sides sought to avert a return to open conflict.
Khamenei, who assumed the role of supreme leader earlier in 2026, has not made frequent public appearances.
The meeting with military leaders, including the armed forces chief of staff, army commander and Revolutionary Guards commander, marked a significant public signal of Tehran’s stance.
